We attended the WEBAF 2025 conference in Seville
In mid-October, we had the opportunity to attend this year’s Waters European Biopharma Analytical Forum (WEBAF 2025), which took place in Seville, Spain. The conference focused on biopharmaceutical analysis.
Over the course of two days, top speakers from European pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, and analytical laboratories presented their insights — including representatives from companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Boehringer Ingelheim, Sandoz, and Krka. The program was divided into three main thematic sections: proteins and bioconjugates, nucleic acids, and so-called “megamacromolecules” such as viral vectors and lipid nanoparticles.
Discussions centered on new approaches in LC and LC-MS analysis (e.g., MS Waters Xevo CDMS), light scattering techniques (e.g., SEC-MALS combination), aggregate characterization, and analytical method validation. Real-life case studies demonstrated how modern technologies can accelerate development and improve the quality of biopharmaceutical products.
Overall, WEBAF 2025 proved to be an inspiring event that offered not only an overview of the latest trends in biopharmaceutical analytics but also practical tools and ideas applicable to everyday practice.
