Young Chemist 2025 Has Its Winners

Aneta Kárná

PR & CSR Manager

On Friday, March 7th, the finals of the Young Chemist 2025 competition took place at our facility. The competition promotes chemistry among primary school students. Participants demonstrate both their knowledge and laboratory skills, with the best ones being awarded at regional and national finals. The competition is supported by industry experts, companies, and the Association of the Chemical Industry, aiming to bridge the gap between education and real-world practice.

The students first showcased their chemistry skills in the laboratory, tackling various challenges. Afterward, we welcomed them to our facility, where they had the opportunity to see what working in the pharmaceutical industry entails. Since they were under 18 and could not enter the production area, we prepared a lecture and showed them manufacturing processes through videos. It was amazing to see their enthusiasm and curiosity.

The announcement of results was thrilling, and the winners have been determined! The top five contestants are advancing to the national finals, where they will compete for even greater achievements. The best performers received valuable prizes, but all participants were recognized for their outstanding efforts—just making it to the finals is a huge accomplishment!

The school-level round saw 2,108 students from 79 primary schools participate. In the regional round (second round), 219 students from 79 schools competed, and five students advanced to the national finals:
Sophie Janků (Letovice Primary School – 1st place)
Tereza Káčeníková (Letovice Primary School – 2nd place)
Klára Jurečková (Tyršova Primary School, Brno – 3rd place)
Barbora Faldíková (Zbýšov Primary School – 4th place)
Vojtěch Tichý (Slovanské náměstí Primary School, Brno – 5th place)

The award ceremony was attended not only by the students but also by notable guests, including Vilém Koutník, Principal of the Secondary School of Chemistry, Markéta Munzarová, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Science at Masaryk University, and Michaela Vašinová Galiová, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry at Brno University of Technology.

A huge thank you goes to all the participants, organizers, and teachers who support these young chemists. It was fantastic to see so many talented and passionate individuals who are not afraid to embrace science. We believe that among them are the future experts who will one day change the world!

We look forward to the next edition of the competition!
